Sponsor Licence

Information

What is a sponsor licence?

Any UK employer wishing to hire workers from abroad must get a sponsor licence, also known as a sponsorship licence (formerly a Tier 2 Sponsor Licence). Businesses established in the UK are authorised to give Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS) to eligible international workers entering the country on work visas (such as the Skilled Worker visa).

As a result, authorised sponsors, as opposed to other UK enterprises, have the benefit of hiring the necessary personnel from another nation as and when needed. The Home Office will also demand a permit from educational institutions, including universities with international students, in order to sponsor foreign students.

The application procedure for a sponsor licence is difficult, and maintaining your licence necessitates adhering to a stringent compliance regime. This entails making sure that your HR policies and practises adhere to the demands of the Home Office in a seamless and efficient manner.

Sponsor permits are granted for a term of four years, after which employers must submit a renewal application.
